THIS week is Cliviger Challenge Week. Tonight there is a Health and Education consultation evening at the Village Hall, between 6.30 and 8.30.

Everyone is invited to go along to see what the steering group have come up with in these areas, and to make their own suggestions.

ON Friday the Transport and Environment group will hold their consultation evening at the same venue and same times. The questionnaires were delivered last weekend, anyone who has not received one or is having difficulty completing it can contact Liz Berry on 451343. The completed questionnaires will be collected next weekend.

THE parish council has received £2,000 from Burnley Borough Council for maintenance of the bowling green in Park Road.

THE monthly meeting of CRaCA will be held tonight at the Kettledrum, starting at 8pm.

KETTLEDRUM FC played its first home game of the season at Mount Lane on Sunday in the Burnely and District Sunday League, the result was a 2-2 draw. John O'Brien and Damon McLoughlan were the scorers.

IN response to a letter from the parish council, the Lancashire County Council contracts manager recently visited the parish to inspect the work required on footpaths and verges. He will arrange for appropriate action to be taken.

THE first instalment of grants from the Countryside Agency to put together a parish plan has been received by the parish council. The sum of £2,090 is for the initial phases of the Cliviger Challenge.

THE next meeting of Cliviger Parish Council will be held as usual at the Village Hall at 7pm, on Friday, September 12.
