BLACKBURN Under 15s have been given a tough test at Barrow in the first round of this season's English Schools' Inter Association Trophy.
The local youngsters usually fare well in the Lancashire Schools' competitions but they have struggled to make an impact in the prestigious 97 year old national Inter Association cup in the last few years.
Blackburn officials are hoping for a good cup run but the town team will have to be at their best if they are to make progress this time round.
Rossendale will also be looking for a lengthy cup run and they begin their trophy campaign by hosting Chorley in their first round tie.
The full 1st Round draw involving associations in the north is : Allerdale v Preston, Bury v Wigan, Rossendale v Chorley, Barrow v Blackburn, Wirral v Oldham, Salford v Sefton, Rotherham v Wakefield, Calderdale v Huddersfield, Barnsley v Bradford, Bishop Auckland v Middlesbrough, Gateshead v Stockton, Darlington v York, East Riding v Redcar and Cleveland, (Matches to be played on or before Saturday, September 27).
