LIKE many people, I have watched for six Thursday evenings on ITV1 the series 'Are You Being Serviced?' about how Blackburn with Darwen Council operates some of its services.
Although I found the programme to be informative, I can only believe that the series was a propaganda exercise by the borough council to show how excellently it manages the day-to-day running of these services.
There was no mention of having problems with housing and council tax benefits claims, with some people waiting nearly 12 months for their claim to be processed. Inadequate bus services operated by Blackburn Borough Transport and the problem with housing repairs not carried out by Twin Valley Homes, who are in partnership with the council, were also not shown.
