DARWEN picked up a point against fellow NWCL Division Two strugglers Chadderton at Andrew Street.

Under poor conditions, chances for either side were few and far between, however, Darwen boss Stephen Mullen felt slightly aggrieved at not having claimed all three points.

"While you have always got to be pleased with a point away from home, we were certainly the more disappointed of the two sides walking off the pitch," he said.

"They didn't really trouble us and unfortunately we failed to take the opportunities that came our way."

New signing Jamie McDonald pushed a shot past the post when he had more time to compose himself.

After the break, substitute Liam Taylor came out

second best in a 50-50 challenge with the goalkeeper after a poor back pass by a Chadderton defender.
