A FRIEND of mine has enclosed in her Christmas card to me the article in your paper namely "Looking Back," on November 25, 2004.
This was of great interest to me as my father is PC W Grogan, and he was indeed the Champion Plunge policeman.
He could plunge the whole length of the baths and won many prizes at the galas.
I remember the Pattison twins well and particularly Tom Pattison who was a great friend of my dad's.
My brother Bob Grogan was also a champion swimmer for the West End Catholic Youth Club and for the electricity board in the Mills and Workshop League.
He also played water polo for Blackburn and Lancashire.
Tom Pattison gave Bob some good coaching in water polo.
Belper Street Baths played a great part in my life and I can hear the shouts and cheers to this day.
Thank you for evoking such happy memories of many years ago.
BERNICE WADDINGTON (Mrs), Ainslie Road, Bolton.
