On behalf of the members of the Rotary Club of Radcliffe, may I say a big thank you to all the people of Radcliffe for the most generous response to our Christmas Sleigh appeal this year.
Our hope each year is that our efforts will bring a taste of seasonal cheer and a bit of the magic of Christmas. It's hard work, but it's great fun, and the public response is always magnificent.
This year the generosity of the people of Radcliffe has raised the magnificent sum of £6,650. This money will be spent on a host of worthy charitable causes.
Each year it becomes more difficult to knock on every door. If we missed you and you are feeling left out, we are sorry. Please accept our apologies.
It is a privilege to experience your friendly welcome, a joy to see the youngsters enthralled with Santa, and "bye eck" it's worth a visit to Wendy Lyons' house in Park Street where the mince pies and sherry always appear, as if by magic; but then, that's the spirit of Radcliffe for you!
Many thanks to you all, and to the Radcliffe Times for all the publicity we receive.
Mike Edwards,
President.
