AN international appeal has been launched after a registered sex offender from Padiham went on the run.
Dennis Bowskill, 43, from Albert Street, was due to appear at Burnley Crown Court to answer 27 charges of either making indecent images of children or possessing indecent images.
He failed to answer his bail and an arrest warrant has been issued by the court.
Bowskill is known to have fled the country, travelling to London and Dover and entering France via Calais ferry port.
But Lancashire Police chiefs believe he may return to the UK at any time and are urging the public to be vigilant.
Bowskill, who was banned from using computers and unsupervised contact with under 16s, as part of his ongoing court proceedings, is around 5ft 4ins and of medium build.
A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “Officers have contacted the French authorities and are working closely with them to locate and arrest Bowskill and return him to custody in the UK.”
People with any information about Bowskill can contact police on 08451 25 35 45 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
