MP backs councillor in Darwen refuse collection row

More stories about: Janet Anderson

MP Janet Anderson has come out in support of the Mayor of Darwen about the refuse collection in the town.

Coun Paul Browne criticised residents in Sudell ward for putting the wrong items in recycling bins, meaning they were not collected.

But he said the council was to blame for a lack of information on bin collections, and letting waste pile up was a case of ‘two wrongs not making a right’.

Mrs Anderson said: “It is a shambles. No one knows what to put out when.

"One bin every two weeks, another every week. It is no wonder people are confused.

“And then, when there is a collection, rubbish is left all over the place.

"And I was really surprised to see Coun Browne’s comments about a yellow bin.

"I was not aware we had a yellow bin.

“So well done, Coun Browne. Let’s hope you can make the council sit up and take notice.

"We deserve better in Darwen.”

Yes but Janet remember Paul Browne has some cheek complaining when he is part of the coalition of clowns, many who keep harping on that they support Darwen, who in fact are running the Borough Council with their Tory allies.

Garbage. Elections on the way ... and into the garbage is where EVERY leaflet coming through the letter box will go or perhaps onto the fire. The cold winds will soon blow through the ashes of the dispostic who have ruled by deception, lies and expenses claims.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Well said, Janet Anderson. You might want to follow your own advice then and actually bother to reply to your constituents when they write to you. Especially when there's a General Election around the corner!

You're not referring to your Tory MP Nigel Evans are you?

It's not clear Bob whether you're from Grindleton, Blackburn or Darwen.

Recycling should be a simple task, but if you get the councils involved , Guess what?
Sadly the first thing councils ask is, How much can we make out this.
They are obsessed with power, they love nothing better than prosecuting some vunerable person to establish their authority, you will get chance at the next election to show your disaproval. Take a leaf out of the marmite mayors book and hold them to account.

Possible solution to ease your confusion, put one bin out on the odd numbered weeks ( for Janet 1,3,5,7,9, etc.....) and two bins out on the even numbered weeks ( again for Janet 2,4,6,8, etc ...). Am I confused ????? Perhaps if the MP's are confused by this they certainly will be by expense forms !!!!!!!!!! Get off the band wagon and on the dustbin wagon Janet. Talk is cheap, actions are required.

By all means I will elaborate. Firstly let me say that I do not condone politicians making illegal claims on expenses. However, if a system is in existence, a lot of people will play that system to their best advantage. I’m referring to anyone who claims expenses, whether they be salesmen or whatever.

So when I say let he who has not sinned cast the first stone, I am talking about fiddling mileage claims, taking home stationary, using company photocopier, fuel, internet, phone; it goes on and on.
So lets stop being sanctimonious about politicians and put our own house in order.

Tackle the politicians about policies when and if they come knocking on your door. If they are not what you want don’t vote for them and tell them why.

Thanks Little Diamond, Darwen for your kind reply.
First of all can I just say that I have worked for what could be described as large companies, and yes people in management did take advantage of their expenses. However, that is a matter that was totally at the discretion of the company director/owner and it was up to them to value those ‘perks’ as being beneficial towards the company profits based on there worth.
Unfortunately, as far as politicians ‘perks’ are concerned. They are not paid out of private companies profits but are paid from monies that you and I have made by law. Not surprisingly, the practice of obsessive expense claims has only recently been made public and it is most upsetting that those claims were made by the people that you and I voted for. They applied for that job and they needed our trust in them to do it and we gave them our vote to do just that.
The job description was to serve the community justly and to do that job towards the advantage of the community and not towards the benefit of themselves. We gave them that job and expected them to do that job fairly for us all.
If you’re employed by a company and you don’t think your paid enough salary what do you do? Do you put that request forward or do you simply find another way that enables you to gain those monies unknowingly. It’s all a matter of trust and self worth.
-
Could I ask anyone reading these words. No matter what political name, what would you have done in that position of trust?
-
Please remember. You’re the one who will give that vote?

I hope Roy Drage does go out to vote on the 5th May........especiall
y since the election is likely to be on the 6th !!
Fresh ideas from the Tory candidate ? What ideas are those then Roy ?
If their candidate is like the Tory led Council then their 'fresh ideas' include: axeing 12 manual street sweepers, voting against increased spending on road resurfacing, bus routes axed or severly reduced, fees introduced for community transport, axeing 'Arts in the Park', spending silly money on buying empty buildings, cutting the Parks budget, etc etc - I could go on...

.
Recyling every 2 weeks. Household every week. If people paid maximum of £1 for a calender and marked it for '2 bin' collection, every 2 weeks in the calender, then there would be no confusion. Jeeees, it's not exactly a physics thesis, is it!
.
I wonder how many can't clean their streets and alleyways because they are under the illusion that a Hi-Vis vest must be worn!!!
.
I would prefer it to be: Recycled - collected every week, and household - every 2 weeks.

You really are very smart aren't you, 5th, 6th does it matter? Typical labour petulance...and I could go on about 13 years of failure, but will instead exercise my disgust at the ballot box. Your spouting off also suggests you believe I have Conservative allegiances. Once again, wrong wrong wrong! I am fed up with people like you hectoring people for expressing any kind of opinion.

Hang on Roy....you were the one hectoring everyone about Janet Anderson - can she not have an opinion too ? If you make disparaging comments about an individual don't be surprised if you receive comments back !

The reality is that no other Party in Rossendale & Darwen has a chance of winning other than the two main parties.

And I could go on about 13 years of investment, cuts in crime, increased employment & personal wealth, increasesd pensions, child benefits etc etc;

Maybe you could ''go and count your money'' too !!

That is about as transparent as the idea that Janen Anderson gives a shiny shiz about the state of Darwen

Sorry whereistedward, I am getting on a bit and sometimes forget how fortunate we are to live in this wonderfully-run country, where money grows on trees (yes, that's right, we never have to pay it back!) and no-one ever needs to lock their doors. No doubt you will have the last word on this though...

Don't waste your breath Roy, thats Dave Smith your arguing with, Janet's right hand flunkey, if the country was bankrupted by the Labour Party he'd still defend her. Oh what am I saying, it is!
