COMMUTERS suffered travel chaos this morning on the road and rail network struggled to cope with the winter weather.
This morning trains between Clitheroe and Manchester, going through Blackburn and Darwen, were cancelled or severely delayed after a points failure.
On the roads there was a lane closed westbound on the M65 at junction seven near Accrington after a lorry broke down.
On the A56 Accrington bypass there were long delays because of snow on the road, while Manchester Road in Burnley was only just passable.
Elsewhere road police said there were few incidents because many motorists were staying at home.
In Blackburn yesterday, a stranded bus was towed by a Land Rover Discovery up Rosewood Ave and Openshaw Drive.
Cindy Rhodes, who sent in a photo of the recovery, said: "It just shows how public spirit is still alive and well in snowy Blackburn."
