FAST FOOD giants KFC and McDonald’s are to go head to head in a Burnley street.
Plans to build a KFC drive-through yards from McDonald’s in Trafalgar Street have been approved.
The development went through despite concerns from residents about increased noise and litter.
The fried chicken restaurant will open from 10am until 11pm or midnight and will employ 12 staff.
Councillors unanimously supported the application, despite the concerns raised.
Janet Dixon, of Janet Dixon Town Planners, who had worked with KFC on the scheme, told councillors that a litter strategy would be put in place by restaurant bosses and the venue would not be open for as long as McDonald’s.
Councillors also requested a barrier to the car park to prevent people gathering when the restaurant is shut.
