A CUTTING-edge lighting firm’s exceptional talent for securing major international projects helped it scoop the Export award.
Barrowford-based ACDC Lighting Systems has supplied lighting to developments such as the Burj Al Arab Hotel, Dubai, the Atlantis Resort, Dubai, Hong Kong’s International Wetlands Park and the Cube in Moscow.
Receiving the award Gareth Frankland, CEO, said: “We have had a fantastic year.
“Winning the award is a bit of a shock. We have all worked hard this year and we have some fantastic jobs. We have worked on the Burj tower in Dubai. Working on the world’s tallest building has been a massive project.
“Even though there has been a recession, it has been a fantastic year to have grown.
“Due to the downturn it should have been an horrific year but our hard work, innovations and commitment of the team to delivering has been key to our success.”
ACDC Lighting, which operates from Gisburn Road, Barrowford, was founded 30 years ago and has built up a reputation as a leading lighting manufacturer.
The company originally focused on cold cathode lights but changed its direction to become a world leader in LED lights.
With 84 staff, the company secures 70 per cent of its sales from overseas markets.
Bosses say the move to look for contracts abroad has secured the business’s future through the recession.
