A JACK Russell dog got more than she bargained for when she chased a rat in Nelson on Saturday night.
Firefighters were called to Elizabeth Street about 10pm after the dog, Tina, chased the rodent under a piece of concrete and get her head stuck.
Crew manager Tom Ashworth, of Nelson Fire Station, said: “She was OK, but we had to use a big bolster chisel to chisel the brick away from underneath her.
“Her owner was a bit worried because there was no way her head was coming out.
"But she was wagging her tail when she got out.”
