THE woman who discovered supermodel Agyness Deyn believes another Rossendale teenager could become the next big name in modelling.
Jan Shutt, owner of Sunday Best fashion in Rawtenstall, believes her latest discovery Gloria Roberts has all the qualities of a supermodel.
Gloria, 15, of Alder Grange High School, was spotted at a fashion show where she was performing as part of her studies.
Jan quickly snapped up the teenager, comparing her look to that of Audrey Hepburn.
Speaking after her first model shoot for Sunday Best’s new Diversion range, Jan said: “I think Gloria will be the next face to watch.
“She has a stunning look and photographs brilliantly.
“It was hard to believe this was her first shoot as she was such a natural in front of the camera.”
Like Agyness, who also hails from Rossendale, Gloria has been discovered during her final year at school.
Gloria said: “I was really excited to be given the opportunity to have a professional photo shoot.
“It’s hard work but also really glamorous, getting to try on so many different clothes.
“I would love to have a career in modelling.
“It’s inspiring to know that Agyness was a local girl and has gone on to become a global success.”
Agyness, whose real name is Laura Hollins, attended All Saints' RC High School, Rawtenstall, before going on to take A-levels at Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School.
She was spotted as a teenager while working at The Village Chippy, Stubbins.
The model has been described as one of the most exciting models of her generation and has been photographed for Vogue and fronted campaigns for designers Armani and Burberry.
Although Gloria has been tipped for stardom, the Rossendale girl is keeping herself grounded.
She said: “I plan to go to college when I leave school next year but I’d love to carry on working with Jan.
“My family loved the pictures too, and I’m lucky that they’ll support me if I do get the chance to take it further, but they won’t be treating me any differently.
“They’ll make sure I keep my feet firmly on the ground!”
