Hollie Steel back in school after Britain's Got Talent exploits

Lancashire Telegraph: BACK HOME: Hollie relaxes in the garden after school BACK HOME: Hollie relaxes in the garden after school

HOLLIE Steel left the showbiz world behind for her first day back at school after her exploits on Britain’s Got Talent.

The 10-year-old starlet was tired after a long journey home back from London on Sunday night but she made it into Oakhill College, Whalley, ‘on time and without a fuss’.

The youngster has already got back into the grove of her normal life, according to her mum Nina.

Nina also revealed that Hollie has been asked to attend the Britain’s Got Talent Tour and will begin rehearsals next week.

Hollie, who grew up in Burnley but moved to Huncoat over seven years ago, will be in school for the remainder of the week.

She will be home tutored in London in between rehearsals and shows.

Nina said: “Hollie was really tired when we got back off the train yesterday but she still went into school.”

Nina revealed how Hollie watched her performances after getting home on Sunday night.

She had captured the nation’s hearts on Friday’s semi-final when she broke down in tears after forgetting the words due to nerves.

But she received a standing ovation after coming back on later in the prog-ramme after delivering a flawless performance.

On Saturday’s final she was again praised by the judges, but did not make the top three, with street dance act Diversity winning the variety contest.

Nina said: “She is a perfectionist and was picking out her faults.

"All she could see was what was wrong about it.

“And now she is really, really excited she has been invited onto the tour, but they are trying to sort out licences for her so she can work.

“It is the end of the year and the school thinks she has done really, really well in her SATS and they have been supportive towards her.”

Whilst I agree that Holly was very brave to go on the stage again and sing perfectly, as the mother and grandmother of girls I feel that she is not ready for such a world-wide stage. It made for very uncomfortable viewing, especially with her mother going down to the stage. Yes there were other children on there but they all mature at a different rate and some can handle such a massive exposure. I think maybe this time next year it could have been a different story.

Friday's live showing of Hollie on Britain's got talent was terrible viewing. I felt so sorry for Hollie and extremely concerned for her wellbeing. In my opinion she looked like a bag of nerves and I have no idea how she managed to get the courage to go back on stage again. If I was Hollie's mother, the first thing I would have done is reassure her and remove her from the stage, however, to my horror all I could hear was the mother pleading for her daughter to sing again. I also think the judges were wrong to vote her back to sing again in the final, it was evident that she was feeling too much pressure. I don't disagree with children entering the competition as long as they are enjoying themselves.

I have read a lot of posts about how Hollie should have never been allowed to continue or even be on the show.

I think people are being ridiculous about all of this. Hollie has a talent that she wants to pursue and this is her dream.

All the talk about the pressures and how children are being taken advantage of just doesn't hold water with me. If this were an all kids talent contest, the pressure would be no different for any of the children than it would be for a child on this show. The pressure is what they and their parents make of it.

I support Hollie 1000% (yes that is 3 zeros, not a typo) and will continue to do so as long as this is what she desires to do. She has a beautiful voice and an extremely bright future.

Those of you that responded with positive praise, thank you for supporting Hollie.

From all the way across the pond, in TEXAS........
