A FILM-MAKER who grew up in a Rossendale village is using tall tales from his youth to inspire a new movie.
Chris Johnson-Standley’s latest project is based on the myths he encountered in Helmshore and the surrounding area during his school years.
These include everything from haunted submerged villages under Grane’s reservoirs, UFOs flying over and a First World War tank buried beneath a Haslingden park.
And now the former Accrington and Rossendale College student, who runs a media company, is calling on local people to send him their own tales to be included in the film.
Chris said: “I need people of all ages to share their unusual stories about Haslingden and Helmshore.
“Things they heard as children that they were told were true, but had a ring of myth and legend about them. I want to collect them and present them in my film.”
