A CYCLIST is seriously injured after being found with a fractured skull in Darwen.
Police are appealing for witnesses as to how David Bury ended up lying in the street just after 3am on Friday.
A taxi driver found the 49-year-old Darwen resident in Goosehouse Lane, Darwen where he had apparently collided with a stone gatepost.
Mr Bury had left the Crown and Thistle Inn, in Roman Road, Hoddlesden, on his mountain bike at about 12.45am, police said.
He was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital and later transferred to the Preston Hospital, suffering from a fractured skull and a fractured neck.
He was operated on yesterday. And was tonight said to be in a poorly but stable condition.
Sgt Mick Young said: “We would urge anyone who saw a cyclist travelling between the Crown and Thistle pub and Darwen, or anyone with information as to how Mr Bury ended up with his injuries, to come forward.”
Anyone with information is asked to call 08451 253545.
