BLACKBURN Rovers’ Jersey-based owners are NOT planning a “crisis meeting” to discuss Paul Ince’s January transfer funds, the Lancashire Telegraph understands.

A national newspaper yesterday speculated that the club’s trustees had called an “emergency summit” to examine the financial implications that a potential relegation from the Premier League would mean for Blackburn.

However, contrary to the report, no such meeting has been organised.

But manager Paul Ince admits he is keen to hold discussions with Rovers chairman John Williams over the funds available during the January transfer window.

“Hopefully, we’ll be able to bring players in. It's important to bring new faces in and freshen things up,” said Ince.

“You need to invest - every club in the Premier League needs to invest.

“I will sit down with the chairman soon. He’s been fantastic for me - he’s always been on my side and you always need people like that. I’m sure Niall Quinn is the same for Roy Keane.

“But we will see what happens in January.”

Williams insists all efforts will be made to provide Ince with the necessary transfer resources to bolster his Rovers squad.

But the chairman admits Blackburn do not have a bottomless pit - or a kitty on the scale of many of the club’s Premier League rivals.

“Everyone knows that are resources are not what they used to be,” said Williams.

“But nothing will change in that we’ve always done our best to provide Blackburn Rovers managers with as much as we’ve got to give.”
