A TOP lawyer has warned motorists who may be tempted to illegally dodge speeding tickets, following the conviction of 12 people in Blackburn.
Abdul Musa, 48, admitted running a scam where he charged up to £500 to take the blame for other people’s speeding tickets.
He admitted perverting the course of justice and 11 others admitted similar charges.
Now Jeanette Miller, president of the Association of Motor Offence Lawyers, warned against people taking the rap for others.
She said: “Many people do not realise the very severe consequences of such a tactic if discovered by the police.
“We would always advise against nominating someone else as the driver or saying you are not sure who the driver was.
“I am certain many spouses will ‘take points’ for one another to balance out the number of points on a license.
“There are many legitimate and lawful ways to defend prosecutions for motoring offences and it is crucial any driver seeks advice from an expert at the earliest stage.”
