NEW five-a-day menus have been introduced at Pendle’s leisure centres.

Pendle Wavelengths, Pendle Leisure, Centre and West Craven Sports Centre have revamped their menus to offer vitamin rich snacks.

Pendle Leisure Trust teamed up with Pendle Council and health experts from the East Lancashire Primary Care Trust in a bid to play a bigger part in improving health and fitness.

The cafes now serve healthier options including baked potatoes, salad bowls, fresh fruit, vegetarian and halal choices.

Sue Slater, who manages Pendle’s sports facilities, said: “Earlier in the year, we worked with a team from Pendle Council and the Primary Care Trust to ask over 200 local people what they would like to see on our new menu.

“People agreed that there was far too much junk food and not enough healthy options.

“We listened to their suggestions and have come up with a menu that will help you get your five-a-day.
