ACCRINGTON Stanley assistant boss Jimmy Bell insists the Reds must become “bad losers” after crashing to their third defeat in eight days.

Stanley stumbled to a 2-1 League Two defeat at Exeter on Saturday.

Jamie Clarke put the Reds ahead after 10 minutes, but Matthew Gill snatched an equaliser for the Devon outfit deep into first-half stoppage time, before Ben Watson grabbed a 68th minute winner.

Stanley’s defeat at St James’ Park was their second successive league loss, following a 1-0 reverse at Gillingham, and came four days after crashing out of the Johnstone Paints Trophy at Tranmere.

Bell admits that three successive away trips have not been helpful to Stanley, but he believes manager John Coleman’s side must show more resolve on the pitch if they are to get back on the winning track.

“Me and John are bad losers and if you have that in your team, it drives you on,” said Bell.

“We need to instill that into our team at the minute.

“We don’t want to be pushovers, we want to be hard to beat. But in the second-half, I don’t think we had that and that was a little bit alarming.

“The players need to know how we feel and what is expected of them. That’s the one thing we need to address.”

But Bell believes Stanley were denied a half-time lead as Exeter’s equaliser was scored beyond the allotted time added-on.

“The goal on half-time was a big turning point,” he added.

“We are disiappointed that it went into the third minute of stoppage time.

“They put up two minutes and we don’t even know where they got that from.”

Bell revealed that Stanley will be looking to dip into the loan market, which opens today.

Stanley will complete the loan signing of Blackburn midfielder Rostyn Griffiths.
