A BLACKBURN man who allegedly threatened to kill Tony Blair and Gordon Brown in a posting on a jihadi website has been remanded in custody.

Ishaq Kanmi, 22, of Cromwell Street, Audley Range, appeared before City of Westminster Magistrates' Court, in London, along with two other Blackburn men.

Kanmi is accused of threatening to "eliminate" Mr Brown and Mr Blair, being a member of al Qaida, and encouraging others to join the organisation.

He is accused of spreading terrorist literature along with co-defendant Abbas Iqbal, 23 of Percival Street, Whalley Range.

Aqbal is also charged with owning terrorist material, including camouflage equipment.

Kanmi and Iqbal were remanded in custody to appear before the Old Bailey on October 1.

Iqbal's brother Ilyas, 21, also of Percival Street, Whalley Range, is accused of possessing terrorist material and conducting research into terror.

He pleaded not guilty to all charges and was remanded in custody to appear before City of Westminster magistrates on September 19 for committal.

All three men were arrested on August 14 after a joint investigation by Lancashire and Greater Manchester police forces.

A fourth man, arrested on Tuesday morning in Blackburn, and a fifth man, arrested in Derby, remain in custody.
