PUPILS' drawings of scary bugs will be used to promote the importance of spreading infections.
Children from St Francis School, Blackburn, took part in a competition to create a drawing of a good or bad bug as part of a new ‘infection control’ scheme.
The initiative is being piloted by children’s services as a partnership between Blackburn with Darwen Council and the borough’s primary care trust, and is part of a health programme.
More than 200 designs and ideas were submitted by pupils.
Winning designs were entered by Raees Patel, from year 1, with his ‘Evil Scary Bug’ and Emma Hunt ,from year 6, with bad bug ‘Squigle’.
Their creations will be used on literature produced by the council and the Primary Care Trust to promote the importance of how everyone can take simple actions to help reduce the spread of infections, such as flu Both winners received gift tokens which were donated by System Hygiene.
Headteacher, Sharon Thomas said: “The children had such fun designing their bugs.
“ They also enjoyed the sessions that were held to educate them in the importance of washing their hands to prevent spreading infection.”
