Darwen driver's shock at 6 foot hole in Blackburn road

A MOTORIST had a shock after a hole opened up in the road as she drove through a busy junction.

June Reid, 48, of Birch Hall Avenue, Darwen, was driving along Salford in Blackburn town centre at 3.30pm yesterday when her car partly sank into the 6ft deep hole and punctured her tyre.

Fire crews cordoned off the area near Pitchers Bar and highways bosses at Blackburn Council are now investigating what happened.

June said: "It was a massive shock. I can't believe there was such a big hole in the road.

"I didn't see it coming, I just heard a big bang.

"I'm just glad that I'm all right."
