THE control of Pendle Council should be resolved this week.
And a power sharing deal between the Labour and Conservative groups still looks the most likely result.
The Liberal Democrat group has at present declined a Conservative offer for all three parties to run the council.
Instead its councillors will propose to form their own ruling executive.
However as they have 20 councillors to Conservative's 16, Labour's 10 and British National Party's two, that is not likely to be voted through.
Therefore a power sharing deal with Conservative leader Coun Tony Beckett as council leader looks most probable.
Control of Pendle should be resolved at a meeting of the full council on Thursday.
