A SERIES of events and exhibitions is being organised to celebrate Local and Community History month in May.
The national campaign which aims to increase awareness of history in a local setting.
Lancashire Libraries, in partnership with the county council's Museums Service and Lancashire Record Office, will be hosting displays using extensive local and community history collections along with talks, lectures and other events focusing on Lancashire's History of Health'.
Events taking place across the area include: Chorley: Friday, May 9 at 2pm: Talk by local historian Barry Lowe at Chorley Library on the history of health care in the Chorley area.
Hyndburn: May 7 and 25 at 2pm: Oswaldtwistle Library will run a Local Heritage walk "Healthy Steps around Oswaldtwistle" in conj-unction with Ossy Roots and the Stepping Out Health Walks project.
Colne: Colne Library will run a display on Health and Heritage in Colne in association with the Colne Heritage Centre.
Some libraries will also have displays from Lancashire Record Office and exhibitions of some of the artefacts from Lancashire Museums and Lancaster Medical Museum.
