THE man famous for telling people to BOGOF has been given the task of cranking up the atmosphere at Accrington Stanley's home games.

Jeff Brown, the "You Buy One, You Get One Free" star of the Safestyle UK double glazing adverts, will be leading the pre-match and half-time entertainment at the Fraser Eagle stadium until the end of the season.

"I'm there to help them get the atmosphere up and get them cracking on a few new ideas about how to promote the club," said Jeff, who has just finished a stint on the after dinner speaking circuit with Jim Bowen and is a diehard Burnley fan having had a similar role with the Clarets.

And, despite supporting a rival team, Jeff, from Burnley, said he is backing the Reds all the way.

"Stanley have always been the second result I look for.

"I'm very fond of the club and if I can help them in any way I will."

Jeff has used his vocal talents most famously in a rap to sell windows.

So what does he have in store for the Stanley faithful?

"My idea is to get someone to record a club song - maybe singing 'we're going to the Stanley' to the tune of 'we're going to Barbados'!"

Accrington Stanley Chief Executive Rob Heyes is optimistic about his new signing.

He said: "He is just something a bit different, not the usual act you would see at a football ground, although he did well at Burnley, and we hope it will go down well in hospitality and with the fans".

Rob hopes Jeff's arrival will help boost Stanley, who are currently mid-table in the Coca Cola League Two, to new heights of success.

He said: "Unless he is playing he is not going to affect results too much but anything that makes the match more interesting can only be a good thing."

The club have just won a Football League Family Excellence award which, among other things, recognises their efforts to help fans enjoy themselves on match days.
