Woman blamed knife incident on PMS

A WOMAN said to be suffering from pre-menstrual syndrome was brandishing a knife when her partner came home from the pub.
Hyndburn magistrates heard that Debra Curry had been self-harming but her partner was so concerned for his own safety that he called the police.
Curry, 45, of Princess Street, Great Harwood, pleaded guilty to affray.
She was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report with conditions that she does not contact Terence Butterworth or enter Devonshire Drive, Clayton-le-Moors.
Charlotte Crane, prosecuting, said both parties had been drinking at home and at some stage Mr Butterworth went to the pub.
"The defendant took exception to that and on his return she had picked up a knife, although it is conceded she did not try to use it," said Miss Crane.
Bernard Horne, defending, said his client had battled an alcohol problem for many years but she blamed the latest incident on her medical condition.
"She has been suffering from PMS which has led to violent outbursts and she is due to go into hospital for a hysterectomy," said Mr Horne.
"The aggrieved understands his partner's problems and they will be getting back together."
