Ex-councillor hoping to bounce back

A VETERAN councillor is hoping to make a comeback following the resignation of a party colleague in Trawden.
Liberal Democrat councillor Aaron Hurst has resigned from Pendle Council as he is moving to a new job in Cornwall.
The councillor, of Sykefield, Brierfield, has represented Boulsworth ward since winning the seat in the 2006 borough elections.
Now the Lib Dems have selected former Boulsworth councillor David Robertson to contest the ward this May.
He will line up along-side current Pendle Council leader Alan Davies, who is also defen-ding his Boulsworth seat in just over a month's time.
Mr Robertson, from Trawden, lost his Boulsworth seat last May by just seven votes, to Conservative candidate Violet Vaughan.
He said: "I have now retired from working as a teacher.
"I can now devote a great deal of time to fighting this election and I hope to be representing the ward again."
Coun Hurst added: "I have enjoyed represen-ting local people on the council and am sorry that my career has now taken me out of the Pendle area."
