Man fractures skull in 1am accident


POLICE are investigating after a pedestrian was knocked down by a taxi on Bolton Road, Darwen, early on Saturday morning.

Police said that the male pedestrian, who has not been named, was under the influence of alcohol and stepped out into the road at just after 1am.

The taxi was unable to avoid the man who suffered a fractured skull, resulting in a small bleed on the brain.

He was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital but his condition was not known.
