Playtime just got a lot more fun

CHILDREN in Belmont are jumping for joy at the completion of new play equipment at the Ryecroft Lane play area.
Youngsters from Belmont Primary School were invited to give their ideas on what type of play facilities they would like to see, and some of those put forward have been used on the new equipment.
Ward councillor Jean Rigby, who worked to secure funding, expressed her pleasure at the refurbished play area.
She said: "I am delighted with the results of our efforts to make sure our children have this excellent facility.
"Now, they have some amazing new equipment to play on and some fabulous additions to their skateboarding area."
Coun Michael Law-Riding, executive member for leisure and culture and play champion for Blackburn with Darwen Council, added: "The old equipment at Belmont was worn out and tired."
Swings, a slide, skateboard equipment and footpaths have been included in the refurbish-ment of the play area.
Funding for the project, totalling almost £62,000, was made up of £50,000 from the National Lottery, Big Lottery fund and £12,000 from Community Foundation for Bootle.
