Fire crews were called to extinguish a car fire on the M6 yesterday.

Three fire engines from Chorley, Bamber Bridge and Penwortham were called at around 5:10pm yesterday (August 29) to the blaze on junction 28.

The car was on fire on junction 28 on the Leyland Interchange on the M6 North.

Fire crews used one hose reel and a thermal imaging camera which detects areas of heat through smoke or darkness, to extinguish the blaze.

They were there for about two hours.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: “At 17:12 on the 29th August 2022, three fire engines from Chorley, Bamber Bridge and Penwortham attended a vehicle fire on M6 North at Junction 28.

“The fire involved one vehicle which was well alight when crews arrived.

“Firefighters used one hose reel and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire. “Crews were in attendance for two hours.”
