A SPATE of scrap metal thefts from farms and other rural properties have led police to urge residents in the Ribble Valley to be vigilant.
Police said that numerous properties have been targeted over the last month and large quantities of scrap metal, particularly lead, had been stolen.
Sgt Rob Evans, Clitheroe police, said the likely motivation for thieves was the current high prices for scrap metal.
He said: "I would urge anyone who sees anybody suspicious to ring us right away. We would rather go out to a false alarm than not go and let these thieves get away with it."
