1:47pm Wednesday 20th February 2008

BURNLEY is gearing up for Prince Charles' visit to the area tomorrow.

It is the third time in three years that HRH the Prince of Wales has come to the town.

This time he will meet representatives of Burnley Borough Council and other local organisations to discuss regeneration plans for Burnley at the town hall.

He will also visit Burnley Youth Theatre, the Weavers' Triangle, and Lancashire Digital Technology Centre, run by Lancashire County Council. Some of the sites, including the Weavers' Triangle, will be viewed from a canal boat trip.

Prince Charles first visited the town over 20 years ago and has spoken of his ambition to help regenerate the Weavers' Triangle which he saw at the time.

In the morning he will sign the visitors book in the Mayor's Parlour and meet teachers and students.

The Prince said he was "looking forward to his visit enormously".

He said: "I hope to see for myself the contribution which my charities are already making and to identify how, working in partnership, we can make even more progress towards giving Burnley the future it deserves."

Gordon Birtwistle, Burnley Council leader, said: "We have ambitious plans to create a better Burnley, a Burnley that our people deserve. We need all the help we can get to deliver the regeneration and the Prince has been a great friend to Burnley.

"We are very grateful for him taking time out of his busy diary to visit us."

Lancashire Police will be stepping up security on the day.

Prince Charles is involved with several charities in Burnley which will be included in the visit.
