Village attracts hundreds of visitors

12:51pm Sunday 17th February 2008

Who would live in a house like this? That was the question at a launch weekend held recently at the new Buckshaw Retirement Village, near Chorley.

More than 800 visitors came along and a generous sum of money was raised for charity.

This special weekend was organised to show the over 55s just how good retirement living can be with three stylish retirement apartments to look around and specialist advisors on hand to answer queries.

A large regional direct mail campaign invited specially targeted individuals to attend the launch and in doing so, developers Oakbridge Retirement Villages pledged £2 to Age Concern Lancashire for everyone who attended and brought along their promotional pack.

The total raised after the two days is estimated to be in excess of £600.

Sales and marketing director, Irene Heffernan, said: "We have been absolutely delighted with the response to the direct mail campaign and even more pleased to say that everyone was extremely impressed by the village.

"Buckshaw is a unique undertaking and will represent the future of retirement living in this country.

"There really is nothing else quite like it and I think that was the overriding sentiment of everyone who took the time to come down and have a look around."

"A big thank you to everyone for coming and sharing this launch with us - and to the team who worked tirelessly throughout to ensure the two days went without a hitch."

"I'm also delighted to announce that we will be opening The Lodge, our highly specialised supported living environment, in April.

"This uniquely designed community will provide an environment that can make a profound difference to the quality of life of residents - especially those with Alzheimer's Disease or dementia - by providing safe, familiar and comfortable surroundings, inspiring activities and a 24-hour care service.

"The Market Square plays a very large role in this and provides a real focal point for the community with its potting shed, village pub, cinema, pet store, hair and beauty salon, tea shop, corner shop and bakery.

"All I can say is, watch this space to find out more!"

Representing a £45million investment, this stunning, carefully designed, age-exclusive village comprises three unique and individual retirement communities for the over 55s.

The Court - ideal if you are active and independent, but like the idea of home ownership in a luxurious and vibrant village community; The Grange - perfect if you need help with daily living activities, but don't want to give up your independence and move into a care home; and The Lodge - specifically designed to make a real difference to your quality of life if you have dementia or Alzheimer's Disease - a truly exceptional community.

As well as highly customised apartments, Buckshaw Retirement Village boasts a broad and unique range of on-site services and facilities to ensure the ultimate in well-being, safety, security and care.

Add to this no exterior maintenance and an exceptional choice of on-site leisure facilities which are tailored to the needs of each community, and it's easy to see why this village has been heralded as a new era in retirement living.
