Blackburn magistrates heard the drunken 20-year-old left Accident and Emergency after being abusive to staff.

And Christopher Sean Booth was arrested on the car park of Royal Blackburn Hospital when he began to urinate at the side of the road after police arrived.

Booth, 20, of Whalley Road, Read, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly.

He was fined £75 with £75 cots.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said that police were informed of an incident at Royal Blackburn Hospital at 1.15 pm on Saturday February 2.

They were told that a drunken man had absconded from the hospital after being brought in by ambulance.

"The police found him on the car park and he was clearly drunk," said Miss Allan.

Miss Allan said that while he was being arrested Booth stuck his fingers in his eyes and said "You know I'll do it."

He had thrown himself in front of cars in Manchester Road, Accrington.

"I am stopping drinking and I am going to see a counsellor in Burnley," he said.
