FIREFIGHTERS battled to put out a car fire on the hard shoulder of a busy motorway.

The emergency services were called at 7.18am this morning (Tuesday) to a fire between junctions 12 and 11 of the M65.

Crews from Burnley and Nelson attended and used a hose reel to extinguish the fire.

They were in attendance for around twenty minutes.

A spokesman said: 2At 07:18 on 23rd November, two fire engines from Burnley and Nelson attended a vehicle fire on the M65 Westbound motorway, between J12 and J11. The incident involved one vehicle that was well alight on the hard shoulder when crews arrived. Firefighters used one hose reel to extinguish the fire.”
