A PUB chef will be cooking up a treat after making it to the final three of a prestigious food competition.

Andrew Snape, a chef at the Three Fishes, Mitton, near Whalley, has been nominated in the Young Pub Chef Category as part of the Pub Chef Excellence Awards.

The 18-year-old beat off competition from hundreds of hopefuls from across the country after impressing judges with an initial application.

After making it through the first round he was invited to take part in a cook off where he had just over a hour to prepare a dish.

Andrew cooked deep fried monkfish tail in breadcrumbs, garden pea mash, caper and onion mayonnaise and chunky chips which was served to a judging panel made up of food experts.

He will now take part in another cook off with the other finalists at a ceremony to be held at the Dorchester Hotel, London, in February.

The awards are organised by Pub Chef magazine and leading trade newspaper the Morning Advertiser.
