A man who stashed a haul of stolen property at his auntie's had been subject to court orders at the time, a court was told.
Burnley magistrates heard how Michael Ashe, 19, could have been facing a jail term, as he had struck whilst under a suspended prison term as well as a community order.
But he was spared custody after the bench said they were not invoking the suspended sentence. Chairman Margaret Dunne told him he was "doing well" and making progress towards rehabilitation.
The defendant, of Brief Street, Burnley, admitted handling a stolen stereo and DVD player worth £165. He was given a nine-month community order with supervision and the justices extended the operational term of the suspended sentence one month. A burglary allegation was withdrawn.
The court was told the stolen property was from a house burglary in Leyland Road, Burnley. Sara Lyle, defending, said at first Ashe did not know the goods were stolen but when he was told he didn't do anything about it.
