Adam Armstrong got the nod in the central striking role against Hull City last time out but Tony Mowbray is yet to decide who will start up front against Reading.

Danny Graham has been a firm fixture in the Rovers side since the turn of the year, and started the opening two league matches.

Armstrong, who made his move from Newcastle United permanent earlier this month, was preferred against the Tigers having previously played much of his football at Rovers on the wing.

His appearance against Hull came after a brace in the Carabao Cup against Carlisle, but Graham is very much in Mowbray’s thinking ahead of back-to-back home matches with Reading visiting Ewood Park tomorrow and Brentford in town on Saturday.

There is also the possibility of both starting, should Bradley Dack not be passed fit, or should Armstrong be moved out to a wider role.

“The opposition and game in front of us will dictate,” the boss said of deciding between the pair.

“Generally in all positions that should be the case, whether it’s a rotation because of the number games in a week or a potential weakness in a team, and Danny Graham’s type will benefit us more than an Adam Armstrong down the middle, we will try and pick that player.

“You throw confidence and belief in to that, and continuity of how a team is functioning.

“We will pick and choose as we go along and they all have to be ready.

“I don’t know the team yet, with Bradley Dack not being 100 per cent fit to play, so we will wait and see who’s available.”
