A MAN who thought his dad was hiding from him smashed all his downstairs windows.

Blackburn magistrates heard neighbours called police after seeing James French wielding a hammer and using bricks to smash the windows.

French, 29, of High Street, Rishton, pleaded guilty to criminal damage to property belonging to Tom French.

He was remanded on bail until August 16 for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Alex Mann, prosecuting, said Mr French senior was not in the house when the damage was caused.

A neighbour, who reported the matter to the police, called Mr French senior and told him to come home because his son was smashing his windows.

Peter King, defending, said when French went round to his dad's house he initially knocked on the door.

"He thought his father was in the house and was ignoring him," said Mr King.

"He was significantly intoxicated and put the windows through in temper."

Mr King said when the police arrived French had deep cuts on both arms and had to be taken straight to hospital.
