THE landlords of a disabled woman whose mobility scooter was stolen from outside the home have expressed their shock at the theft.

52-year-old Leatitia Longland parked the £300 machine outside her rented bungalow in Holmbrook Close in Highercroft, Blackburn, on Wednesday night but found it taken the following morning.

Janet Fishwick-Mahon, neighbourhood manager at the Together Housing Group which owns the property, said: " We are appealing for help in getting the scooter returned.

"“All of us at Together Housing are shocked that anyone would steal a mobility scooter from anyone.

“Many of our tenants rely on scooters and adaptations to keep them independent and it is shocking to hear that anyone would choose to take these from them.

“Together Housing’s staff work closely with the Police and will give them any assistance we can."

Ms Longland, who suffers from lung disease and fibromyalgia, said the theft was 'absolutely disgusting'.
