A CONVICTED child sex offender and rapist took a 15 year old girl to concerts all over the country without her parents being aware of his previous convictions.

Blackburn magistrates heard the jaunts to places as far afield as London were only stopped after the parents did an internet search on John Schofield which revealed his murky past.

Schofield, 47, f Bolton Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to five breaches of a sexual offences prevention order by having contact with a girl under the age 16. He was sent in custody to Preston Crown Court to be sentenced on September 10.

Tracy Yates, prosecuting, said Schofield had been convicted of rape in 2000 and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and sexual activity with a child at Burnley Crown Court in 2013. The latest offences lead to the making of the SOPO which he admitted breaching twice in May and in June, July and August.

"On the dates in question he has taken the girl, who is the daughter of someone he knows, to various concerts all over the country," said Mrs Yates. "There was clearly a risk of very serious harm due to his previous convictions."

Richard Prew, defending, said there had been no impropriety with the girl.

"There is no suggestion anything sexual took place on any of the trips," said Mr Prew.
