THE golfing skills of a law firm have brought a £6,500 prize for a hospice.

Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall Solicitors held a charity sporting event to benefit the Rossendale Hospice.

The 11th annual Golf Day raised £6,500 after 22 teams teed off at Rossendale Golf Club to complete 18 holes in aid of the hospice which cares for those with life-limiting illnesses.

Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttal, which has a history stretching back 200 years, has offices in in Accrington, Bacup, Bury, Blackburn, Haslingden, Great Harwood and Rawtenstall.

Its team's golfing skills secured the top spot closely followed by James Killelea & Co Ltd with 96 points..

Prizes including a luxury make-up bag and credit card holder from Mulberry UK and a spa package at Mellor-based Stanley House Hotel and Spa were raffled.

David McCann, senior partner at the host firm, said: “Over the last ten years we have handed over £47,000 to the hospice from fundraising at our golf day, so we’re thrilled to boost the funds with the latest donation.

“The staff at Rossendale Hospice do an amazing job so it’s a real pleasure to have been able to raise this money to support what they do. We’re committed to supporting the hospice and it’s something we’ll continue to do in the future.”
