POLICE were called to a level crossing to find a vulnerable man in crisis.
The incident happened in Brierfield last night and the man was taken to hospital.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said officers are still with the man this morning as they wait for a bed at a mental health unit to become available.
The spokesman Tweeted: "A vulnerable male was found in crisis at #Brierfield level crossing last night.
"As there were no suitable MH spaces available he was taken to A&E. This morning officers are still with him in hospital.
"Thank you to @BTPMersey for assisting with the bed watch overnight."
