THE organiser of the Darwen Heritage Open Days is seeking more ideas for the annual celebration of the town's history.
Cllr John East is stepping up preparations for the two weekends where key venues will open their doors for exhibitions, concerts and celebrations.
This year's themes are 'Extraordinary Women' marking the centenary of some females getting the vote for the first time and commemorating 100 years since the end of The First World War.
Darwen Library and Darwen Heritage Centre will host several special events as the centrepiece of the celebrations.
Cllr East said: "Over the last few years Darwen has celebrated its fantastic heritage at these open days. We already have a number of events arranged but we are looking for new ideas.
"People with suggestions can contact me on 07885595189 and register their event on the English Heritage Open Days website."
Events already being organised include an exhibition on 'Iconic Darwen Women' at the town's Heritage Centre in Holker House, Railway Road, including a lecture by Baroness Massey of Darwen.
The Grade II Listed library will host a heritage tour and an exhibition of historic photographs of the town.
