THE JURY has retired in the Jason ‘Jay Jay’ Taylor murder trial.
The jury of seven men and five women were sent out at around 3pm today and spent around an hour deliberating. They will resume tomorrow.
Jack James Costello, 45, is accused of murdering Mr Taylor at Esco-Bar in Darwen on January 28.
The jury was told that Mr Taylor died as a result of a stab wound to his neck caused by a champagne flute.
It is the prosecution’s case that Costello, of Victoria Street, Rishton, thrust the glass into Mr Taylor’s neck and intended to cause serious injury.
But the defence says that Costello accidentally threw the glass and didn’t mean to cause serious harm.
Costello denies murder but accepts manslaughter.
