STORMY conditions are set to bring an end to the scorching weather in East Lancashire this weekend.
Thunderstorms could hit parts of Blackburn, Burnley, Hyndburn, Pendle, Darwen and Ribble Valley today and tomorrow as the Met Office has said there will be a mixture of showers and sunshine in the North West.
It is expected to feel much cooler and fresher than the recent heatwave that has hit England in the last five days. Maximum temperatures are predicted to be no higher than 20 degrees.
More blustery showers are expected to hit parts of Lancashire from the evening onwards due to the arrival of more wet and windy weather from the south west.
Wet weather is set to continue tomorrow morning and is expected to turn more showery later in the day as winds gradually ease.
However an upturn in the weather is set to take place from Monday onwards with more sunshine expected and temperatures to rise to the mid 20s.
The Met Office has warned that there is still the possibility of scattered showers throughout the week.
