AN investigation has been launched after a grass fire broke out near a quarry.
Six fire engines and crews were called to reports of a fire on a field near Waddington Fell Quarry shortly after 3pm today.
Firefighters from Blackburn, Clitheroe, Burnley and Nelson spent two hours putting the fire out near the Slaidburn Road quarry.
No-one was reported injured but the cause of the fire is under investigation, a fire service spokesman said.
The spokesman added: "Six fire engines and crews responded to a fire in a field.
"Firefighters used a stretch of open water to supply two main jets and a hosereel to extinguish the fire.
"Two hours on the fire was reducing in scale and two Burnley and one Blackburn engine and crew were able to return to their stations.
"No-one has been injured and the caused of the fire is to be established."
