A FAVOUR for a friend earned a driving ban for a 20-year-old motorist.
Blackburn magistrates heard Kieran Riley agreed to drive the friend home but was stopped by police on the way and failed a breathalyser.
Riley, of Clayton Way, Clayton-le-Moors, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.
He was banned from driving for 18 months, fined £375 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £37 victim surcharge.
Damian Pickup, defending, said Riley had been on a night out with friends and they had gone back to a house afterwards.
"The owner of the car became intoxicated and asked my client to give him a lift home," said Mr Pickup.
"His family tell me he is always the one helping people and giving lifts. He should have said no."
