A CONSERVATIVE club has been targeted in the early hours during a break-in.
Offenders forced entry through a window of Rishton Conservative Club, in Cliff Street, and left with cash at around 2.50am today.
But officers attended and arrested a 59-year-old man from Blackburn on suspicion of burglary.
He remains in police custody.
Nearby residents took to Facebook following the incident and reported hearing a 'window smash' and seeing police at the scene.
Hyndburn Police said on Facebook: "At 2.50am we received a report of an intruder alarm at Rishton Conservative Club.
"Officers attended and located a man trying to escape from the scene in possession of an amount of cash and other stolen property.
"He was arrested on suspicion of burglary and the stolen property returned to its rightful owner."
